Arriving home from work and greeted by a husband who looked seriously at me and said, “Before you go in the house and see what happened I need to ask you something.  “How much did that little ceramic angel mean to you?”

“No sentimental value” I said and asked, “Why, did the cat walk across the bookshelf and knock it off?”

Hesitating he said, “No….  it broke when the ceiling panel fell on it”

“Why did the ceiling panel fall?” I asked.

“It was bulging from all the water on top of it and fell when it got too heavy”.

“Why was there all that water in the ceiling?” I said.

“It was when the sink upstairs blew up” 

“….and the sink blew up why ……”

“I was fixing that annoying drip.  The faucets are made of stupid plastic parts now.  The parts blew off straight up to the kitchen ceiling and water rained down all over the kitchen”

“Well”, I said,  “I guess I’m really lucky the little angel was the only loss”
